Relaxing Wedding Dress Shopping
The thought of finding your wedding dress can be an exciting yet stressful one but finding your gorgeous wedding dress can be a relaxing and enjoyable experience by taking a few simple steps.
Tip #1 - Before you make an appointment decide on who you would like to take wedding dress shopping with you. I would advise to bring 1-3 people with you whose opinions you trust and you know will help you make the right choice. If you bring lots of people with you it can become very confusing as everyone will have different opinions and tastes. At the end of the day it is 'Your Dress' and you should choose it because #1 You love it #2 It makes you feel happy and confident #3 It suits you. Not because your friend prefers big tulle skirts and you love a sleek beaded number. Also by not taking too many people shopping with you it leaves your dress as a special surprise for your wedding day.
Once you know who you would like to help you choose your gown you can then arrange an appointment to try wedding dresses on a date that you know you will all be able to attend. Tip #2 - Allowing enough time is very important to ensure your bridal experience is a relaxing and enjoyable one. It is best to start looking for your wedding dress a year before your wedding as some wedding dresses can take 6-8months for delivery. Just consider how upset you would be to find your perfect wedding dress only to find out that you cannot order it in time for your wedding, or the added stress of ordering on a tight schedule.
It is not just delivery you need to account for either as many gowns will require some alterations to ensure a perfect fit and wedding dress alterations are time consuming so plenty of time needs to be included for these.
Tip #3 - Don't try on too many wedding dresses even though I know some people may tell you to try as many as you can. The problem with trying on lots of wedding dresses is that it tends to leave you confused and can make it difficult to remember the dresses you really liked from those that weren't quite right. There are hundreds of beautiful dresses out there but you only have to find one. You may even fall in love with the first wedding dress you try on which is great and once you have found your dress you should stop looking as not to confuse yourself at a later date.
What happens next
Once your dress is on order you can relax until it arrives. When it arrives I'm sure you will be very excited to come and try it on as soon as possible and this is vital so we can check that everything is ok.
Depending on your wedding date we may start alterations at this time (for which you will need your underwear and shoes) or we will give you a gown bag so you can safely store your gown at home until alterations are scheduled.
Once alterations are complete and if you require no further fittings there is not much left to do apart from to return the gown to us the week before the wedding where we will prepare it ready for your big day.
